Alcohol Ink on Gesso
This painting was more of an experiment than anything else. I wasn’t sure how the ink was going to react on the gesso board and I wasn’t sure if my texture techniques that I use in my watercolor paintings would work in my ink paintings.
Neither did what I had hoped they would do but in the end, they did something else beautiful that I could work with. I was able to create something of beauty that reminded me of the glassy turquoise waves in Hawaii and the beautiful sunsets there that I enjoyed so much.
For the last few years our little community has been through quite a bit- serious drought, flooding, the Carr Fire with a firenado, serious smoke pollution, crazy unprecedented snow fall, lots of hail, a crazy never seen tornado and now covid19 that has kept us apart from each other.
Our lives being disrupted by so many things was not the painting we intended to have painted when 2020 started but we know it’s a process and we will be stronger in the end.
