“For God commands the Angels over you to guard you in all your ways.”
~King David
"MESSENGERS"
This was a commission I did about 10 years ago. It was auctioned off at an Adoption Agency Fundraiser.
The challenge I faced in creating this painting was portraying an unseen war about the protection of vulnerable children worldwide with paint and paper.
In brainstorming with my husband, he pointed out Psalm 104:4 and Hebrews 1:7, "He says of the angels, he makes the winds his messengers, flaming fire his ministers."
The children representing various ethnic groups, are hovering together, sharing one thing in common, FATHERLESSNESS and MOTHERLESSNESS.
On the left of them are the things that enslave and attack them continuously, causing them to live in constant survival mode.
In capturing the message of Romans 8:15 and 31, “The Spirit of Slavery leads to fear again and it has been replaced by the Spirit of Adoption as we cry Abba Father!" and "If God be for us, who can be against us?", My brush created messengers of wind and fire. They war against the enemy with weapons of Goodness and the Love of God. Engrained in the angels' bodies and wings are words that God Himself breathes wanting the orphan to hear and know.
Words of Life are carried on the wings of the Angels who literally move hell out of the way ministering the life giving words to the little ones.
Unknown to the children, God's promise of "I will not leave you as orphans..." has set a protective shield over them. Hovering over their heads, barely visible is the cross of Jesus, a reminder to the enemy of Jesus' sacrifice for the least of these. There is no doubt they belong to the Kingdom of God.
