“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord God almighty.”~2Corinthians 6:18
“I remember working on this painting, while stuck in Africa in 2008 during adoption proceedings , but I didn’t complete the painting until the next year.
I wanted somehow to portray the depth of God’s love for the orphan but I couldn’t figure out how to put that on paper. I still don’t think I accomplished it at all but I do feel the compassion of God that I felt when I painted this. The larger hand is the hand of Jesus. You can’t see it clearly in this photo but it has a scar on his wrist that reminds us of his sacrifice that made us his sons and daughters. Orphans more than anyone know the loss of a father and mother. Of stability, of love.
He gently waits for them to accept his invitation to be embraced through us.
I painted the child’s hand with various shades to depict all nationalities and each bracelet represents ethnic groups. The love, hope and joy bracelet represents the new life they have been offered.
