Melissa Carter is married to Duane Carter and mom to 15 kids from six different countries. Melissa has always had a creative streak. Her love for watercolor developed when her speciality bakery business ended up being beside an Art Studio in Florence, AL. After having to close her bakery due to health reasons, her husband signed her up for art classes and she dove in! Later she had the privilege of studying under the owner of the art studio, an nationally known artist, and continued to develop her art skills. Of course, her favorite medias to play around with are watercolor and alcohol inks. She currently lives in Panama City, FL.

My inspiration comes from the world around. With paint, I love to tell a story about the life, the colors and emotions that surround me. My favorite theme to impart is Hope. My favorite quote comes from Van Gogh “ Art washes away the dust of everyday life.”
I try to push watercolor and Alcohol past their “limits” by adding texture and depth that “normally” wouldn’t be in that type of painting.
Before I started dabbling in watercolors in 2005, I was a well accomplished sugar artist. I have studied under some nationally known artist to improve my skills over the years. Many of my paintings have won awards and been auctioned off for charitable causes.
