Aslan Breathes
"ASLAN BREATHES"

ORIGINAL -NOT AVAILABLE. Congratulations to S.H. who owns this painting.

This painting was created for a friend of mine who is a lover of C.S. Lewis.

"This watercolor first started out as an idea of Aslan breathing Narnia into Life. But as I read on in the story, "The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe", I saw my painting representing Aslan breathing life back into the stone statues.  An army is created to conquer the evil that seems to be overwhelming their world.  Aslan knows that in in His breath, there is life and when there is life, there is Hope.  I wanted to portray that  hope with all of the colors.  If you notice back behind Aslan that the colors are grayish, representing the coldness and lifelessness that existed before He steps in.  After He opens his mouth to breathe, life and color replace every ounce of gray.  Aslan himself, is colorful, brimming with life. He is Life.  See if you can find Aslan's name in His mane. There are many of my favorite quotes written in here as well." -Melissa

"Messengers" The challenge of the painting was trying to portray an unseen war with paint and paper. In brainstorming with my husband, he pointed out Psalm 104:4 and Hebrews 1:7, "He says of the angels, he makes the winds his messengers, flaming fire his ministers." The children representing various ethnic groups, are hovering together, sharing one thing in common, FATHERLESSNESS. on the left of them are the things that enslave and attack them continuously. Capturing the message of Romans 8:15 and 31, which states that "the Spirit of Slavery leads to fear again and it has been replaced by the Spirit of Adoption as we cry Abba Father! " and that "if God be for us, who can be against us?", I painted messengers of wind and fire who war with the Goodness and Love of God against the enemy. Engrained in the angels' bodies and wings are words that God Himself breathes and wants the orphan to hear and know. The Words of Life are carried on the wings of Angels who move hell to administer them to the little ones. Unknown to the children, God's promise of " I will not leave you as orphans..." has set a protective shield over them. Hovering over their heads barely visible is the cross of Jesus, a reminder to the enemy, of Jesus' sacrifice for the least of these. They belong to the Kingdom of God. -- Melissa Carter

The Promise
This is an ORIGINAL 18x22 Watercolor - $175

This painting was inspired by Mark Lowery's song, "Mary Did You Know?" My favorite line in there is, Mary, did you know that when you kissed the face of Jesus, you kissed the face of God?"

Though hard to portray that thought in a painting, I painted Mary with her newborn son with a majestic angel hovering above. The angel's robe is filled with metallics and colors to represent the Glory and Promises of God that became ours when Jesus was born.

This painting was created for a drawing to help an adoptive family. It also hung in two exhibits.

ORIGINAL painting Is valued at $500.00

ABOUT THE PAINTING: I think three things inspired the conception of this painting. First, of course I was wanting to portray a message about the fatherless and the motherless.

Second, were the techniques of some of the works of Gustav Klimt, the famous Austrian Symbolist painter of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Third, was the Jesus figurine in my collection of nativities from around the world.

I began thinking about the timelessness of God. He has always been here. “ …He was and is and is to come.” “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Revelations 4:8, Hebrew 13:8.

When these babies, these children, are abandoned, are rejected, and are hurt, He is there throughout their lives. Jesus is their Defender Among Them. He may not be noticed among them, but He is there. When they cry and hurt and are lonely, He is there.

He cries along with them, He hovers and protects them. He knows their name. Each baby in the painting, has a word or phrase written in a native tongue of their country to portray the promises of the Defender.

Starting at the top of the painting, they are:

Chinese - I am chosen

American – I am loved

Hispanic – I am protected

Thai - I am safe

Swahili – I am known

Russian – I am wanted

Arabic – I am free

Hindi – I have hope

Jesus- Hebrew – I AM LIFE

“When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppression, /he will send them a Savior and Defender and He will rescue them. “ Isaiah 19:20

"I HOLD YOUR HEART"

ORIGINAL SOLD TO L.P. OF TEXAS

On starting a new painting, I ask God for the gift of creativity and revelation. He is always faithful. On this particular painting, the mother had some ideas she wanted to incorporate. I was happy to oblige and became excited as I saw the painting start to come together in my head and in my sketches. I created the background colors to entail the spectrum of the rainbow documenting God's promises to make Beautiful Things out of what appears to be broken. The hands of course, are God's. They are inscribed with promises for the orphan from His Scripture. They reference Psalm 68:5,6, Isaiah 49:16, Isaiah 40:11, John 14:8, Psalm 10:14,17,18, I John 4:19 and Romans 8:35, 38. The heart in God's hands represent two hearts who were worlds apart being knit together by Himself. The three cords represent The Trinty. The Father - Gold, The Son - Silver, The Holy Spirit - Turquoise. Gold signifies the Divine Strength to bind two hearts together. Silver signifies the Divine Sacrifice and Love that enables the two hearts to be knit together and the Turquoise signifies the Divine communication between the heart and the Spoken Word as ointment to heal the scars of past hurts. The hummingbird, considered a messenger bird, holds all three strands in her mouth promising that these strands together bring Peace, Love, and Joy. The heavenly hosts are at God's beck and call to minister to the orphans. Angels catch the tear drops of the orphans as they cry out. They lift them up before God, so he can issue justice to the needy. Christyn joy, a former orphan and heart patient, and whose memory this painting was commissioned for, holds vigil with the heavenly hosts interceeding for those children who need their forever families to come forward. She reminds us to "Boss our Spiritual Hearts" to pump in sync with God's heart. - "That which is Pure and Lasting, to care for orphans and widows in their distress."
